The son of a music teacher, Doug was introduced to playing music at an early age and became fascinated with the physics of sound.  A creature of rhythm, he was drawn to the drums and befriended sound techs while playing shows in his teens.  At age 17 he started formal training in audio engineering working at WAIF-FM and graduated from The Recording Workshop in 1995.  After engineering at studios in Cincinnati and San Francisco, Doug opened the original Dig Recording in Bellingham, WA in 2001.  Outgrowing this cozy creative space a few years later, he designed and built an acoustically engineered tape-based studio in Portland, OR, at the same time touring as a drummer.  He founded Doug Krebs Mastering in 2006 to focus his creativity and technical expertise on bringing high quality audio mastering to independent artists and labels, and has since enjoyed working with many talented artists far and near.
